Is sunless tanning safe?

Yes, it is. The FDA approved Dihydroxyacetone (DHA), a sugar cane derivative that results in the tan, for safety in 1973. When applied to the skin, DHA penetrates only the top layer of skin — it does not absorb into the body or bloodstream.

 

Will I turn "Orange"?
No.  The cosmetic bronzer we use is perfectly blended to give you that "just off the beach" look and the spray tan solution features a "what you see is what you get" effect meaning that the bronzer color you see initially exactly matches our resulting DHA spray tan.  

 

How long does a sunless tan last?
Our sunless tan will usually last 7-10 days with proper maintenance. To maximize the life of the tan, thoroughly exfoliate prior to application and moisturize generously with our moisturizing cream each day after the application. It is also important to wash using a body wash designed for spray tans. We offer a line of skin care products that were designed strictly around spray tanning. Those would be ideal for proper maintenance but there are other acceptable options you can use.

 

Will I experience allergic reactions or acne with your products?
The sunless solutions we use are hypoallergenic — oil-free, alcohol-free, and fragrance-free, designed specifically for hypersensitive skin.   Our solutions use only the purest, essential ingredients necessary for optimal results. Dermatologists agree that the greater the number of ingredients, the greater the chances for allergic reactions. The sunless tanning solution we use contains only 13 ingredients (including the 3 colors that make up the bronzer). It is important to note that there is no such thing as a 100% allergy-proof product.  If you have a hypersensitive skin condition or known allergies to sunless tanning products, you will want to consult your physician prior to your session. 

 

Do I still need to wear sunscreen when going out in the sun?

Absolutely! A spray tan does not protect the skin from UV rays from the sun.

 

Will the spray tan solution stain my hair?
No.  Most people will not see any effect on the color of their hair.  Clients with light blonde or gray hair may see some initial discoloration from the bronzer but this color will wash out after their first shower.

 

Will the tanning products stain my clothes or bed sheets?
Generally, salons will recommend that you wear garments that are loose and dark in color after an application. However, the solutions we use dry quickly and are water-based so they rarely transfer to clothing or bed sheets. If any color does get transferred to clothing, it can be easily washed in a normal cycle and will not stain.  Our solution will NOT come out of satin if it is transferred.   

 

I always burn (never tan) in the sun. Will I be able to get a sunless tan?
Absolutely. If you have very fair skin, and always burn in the sun and therefore have never been able to tan, you can achieve a sunless tan. With our solution, it will look terrific! 

 

Is sunless tanning safe for pregnant women?
The products we carry, as well as other sunless tanning solutions, have not been tested on pregnant women.  If you are pregnant or suspect you are pregnant you will need to consult with your doctor before your session to make sure it is safe for you and your baby.  

 

What are the benefits of Mobile Spray Tanning?
While we do offer appointments at our location our mobile spray tanning allows you to receive a spray tan in the comfort of your home, office, hotel or wherever you need us.  This saves you not only time and money (travel, gas, parking, etc.) but allows you to get the best customized spray tan experience possible.  Weather can be detrimental to your spray tan.  Rain, perspiration from a hot day while sitting in your car in traffic, snow and the elements can easily ruin a beautiful spray tan you just paid good money for.  Getting a Mobile spray tan in the comfort of your own home will avoid that possibility and ensure you receive the best results from your spray tan.  Mobile spray tanning also allows groups of friends to get together in one location and have a Spray Tanning Party.  This is great for Bachelorette Parties, Brides and Bridesmaids, Prom, Graduation, or just a Girls Night Out.  Also, with large parties you receive a great discount on our regular price single spray tan and even the host could even tan for FREE.  Call us for more details about our spray tan parties.  

 

Where will the technician set up for my appointment?

A YouGlow technician will meet you at your location of choice, such as: your home, office, dorm, hotel or photo shoot.  The spray tan is usually done in a pop up spray tan tent provided by the technician in order to keep the experience mess free. If space is limited, some clients may choose to be spray tanned in their shower.  The solution is water soluble and easy to clean up.
